Game OF the Week: GM Judit Polgar vs GM Dariusz Swiercz

Opening: B90: Sicilian: Najdorf

Player(s): PolgarJ, Swiercz

Three-time U.S. Champion GM Joel Benjamin brings you a new show every Friday at 15:00 Server Time. Joel is regarded by many as one of the best commentators and analysts' we have in the game today -- so if you want to get ahead of the game, get ready to tune-in!

While the chess world recovers from its Olympic hangover, let’s examine another lower profile gem from that great event. Hungary has one of the more interesting teams. They are one of the oldest teams, led as they are by Peter Leko and Judit Polgar, two of the greatest prodigies in chess history. Both of them obtained the GM title as young teens in a time where it was a much more difficult accomplishment.

This week we will look at Polgar’s battle with a contemporary teen star, Dariusz Swiercz of Poland. Polgar uses a somewhat trendy Sicilian sideline to take her opponent into new territory. Let’s see how it turned out, with the analysis of our GM Joel!
