GM Petrov’s Pirc defense - 4.Bf4 or 4.Bg5

Opening: B07: Pirc defense

In this chapter, GM Marian shows you the lines in which White develops his bishop to f4 or g5. It could be with the same idea Qd2 and Bh6. But White can also follow Bg5 with f4 or simply revert to a natural plan with Nf3 and Be2 next. Black has a few ideas, such as chasing the bishop with h6 and g5, playing c6 and b5, and starting his counterplay when white castles queenside. The lines are exciting, and you have to make your mind which way do you prefer.
