Shouts

 shout  is used for announcements to all players with the shout variable set to 1. Shouts are sent to the Main Console

•   To shout, type shout [message] , after which you will see your message in the console preceded by [handle] shouts.

• Example: TriviaBot(TD) shouts: A new trivia game is about to start. +ch 272 to play! Finger TriviaBot for more details.

•   You can also i shout by using the i command. Instead of displaying "Fred shouts:" in front of the text, it will display as: "--> Fred" (if your name is Fred). It also changes the following verb, if any, to the third person tense. For example, if you type i wonder who will play a game?

• Example: --> Fred wonders who will play a game?

Shouts are generally restricted to greeting and departure messages. Longer conversations should take place in an appropriate channel. Normally, no more than 2 shouts (including those using the command i), may be used in a 60 second period, although this time restriction is, rarely, adjusted by the admins on the server.

 Sshout  is similar to shout, but are strictly reserved for chess-related announcements, usually by tournament robots or admins. Sshouts are delivered to players with the sshout variable set to 1

•   Examples of acceptable "sshouts" are:
• - "I am going to the World Open. Is anyone else going?"
• - "What about the Taimanov variation of the Ruy?"
• - "Kasparov just beat Karpov in the Linares tounament!"
• - "Blitz double-elimination tournament starting with Tomato, see 'events'!"
• - "Are there any chess clubs in Boston?"

•   If you should need to use this command, type: Sshout [message].

You can use emoticons in your shouts and sshouts by right-clicking in the typing area and selecting an icon:

Both shouts and sshouts are delivered to a large group of players, server-wide, and should be used appropriately. Abusive or offensive shouts or inappropriate use of sshouts will result in sanctions including blocking of further usage of the commands.
