Communication

Besides playing chess, chatting with other chess players is the most common activity on ICC. There are many ways that you can communicate with people, depending on what you want to say and where you want to say it.

Chatting

• Channel chats -- for conversations in an unrestricted group of people
• Personal chats -- for private communication between yourself and another
• Shouting -- to say something to nearly everyone on the server.
• During a game -- you can kibitz to everyone, whisper to observers, or say to your opponent.

You can right-click in the typing bar and use emoticons to express yourself

Other forms

• Messages -- these allow you to communicate with offline players, in an interface similar to the way you send email
