Today is the birthday of Grandmaster Karkus Ragger, born in Klagenfurt, Austria, on February 5, 1988.
Ragger has been several times Youth champion in Austria and three times National Champion.
Ragger's main teachers and coaches have been GMs Pavasovic, Jussupow, and Ribli. Markus participated in seven Olympiads with his country team, and he was the first Austrian chess player to cross the 2700 barrier, reaching 2702 in February 2017.
Among the champions he defeated are Gelfand, Morozevich, Mamedyarov, Vachier-Lagrave, as well as Anand e Caruana in Blitz games.
