Today is the birthday of International Master Jacek Bielczyk, born in Siemianowice Slaskie, Poland, on February 23, 1953.
A two-time Polish Champion, Bielczyk participated in two Olympiads (1980 and 1982) and three European Team Championships (1977, 1980, and 1983).
In 1990, Bielczyk achieved one GM norm at the Berlin Open. During his career, Bielczyk defeated several grandmasters: Planinc, Dlugy, Milos, and Timoscenko.
An executive of the Polish federation, Bielczyk collaborates with several chess magazines.
In 2011, Jacek Bielczyk was awarded the Cross of Merit "for achievements in training and coaching work" with deaf chess players.
