Today is the birthday of Grandmaster Thai Dai Van Nguyen, born in Prague, Czech Republic, on December 12, 2001.
When he was eight, Thai Dai learned chess from his father, a Vietnamese businessman, while he was teaching the game to Thai's elder brother.
Thai Dai became the youngest GM of the Czech Republic at age 16. European Champion U16 in 2019, in February, he reached his peak rating with 2659 Elo points.
Van Nguyen is number two in Chech Republic, behind David Navara.
