Today, we remember Grandmaster Nukhim Rashkosvky, born in Sverdlovsk (Ekaterinburg), Russia, on April 18, 1946.
Rashkovsky grew up in Botvinnik's chess school; he won twice the RFSFR championship, once the Moscow championship tied with Bronstein, and participated eight times in the Soviet Championship between 1972 and 1991.
Among his major successes is the European Senior Championship, which he won in 2007.
Rashkovsky reached his peak rating in July 1995 with 2560 Elo points. He defeated players like Jussupow, Vaganian, M. Gurevich, Taimanov, Beliavsky, and Romanishin during his career.
As a trainer, he coached Vitaly Tseshkovsky and Nona Gaprindashvili, whereas as a captain, he won the Bled Olympiad in 2002 and the 2003 European Championship in Plovdiv.
