Three miniatures

In Soviet times, there was a hierarchy of tournaments that led to qualification for the Soviet Championship.
The competition was ferocious and it remains the case, that in a winner-takes-all format, players often have to take risks.
In 2020, the Dutch IM Stefan Kuipers tweeted: This is what a very hard winner-takes-all format in the Tata Steel chess qualifiers does to the players.
These three miniatures are not even the first this tournament.
