We are thrilled to announce that ICC chessclub.com, the original home of online chess, has entered into a sponsorship agreement with Faustino Oro, the sensational 11-year-old chess prodigy from Argentina.
Fausti, whose meteoric rise in the chess world has captured international attention, will now have ICC’s support as he pursues his dream of becoming the world’s top ranked chess player.
Ehud Barlach, CEO of ICC, expressed his excitement about the partnership, which marks an important milestone in ICC’s relaunch.
“Faustino represents the future of chess. His talent, dedication, and passion are truly inspiring, and we are thrilled to support him on his journey. At the new ICC, nurturing talent and having fun are important parts of our mission, and sponsoring Faustino aligns perfectly with that vision.”
Faustino, known for his fearless play and maturity beyond his years, shared his enthusiasm: “I’m so happy to have ICC’s support. They’ve been such a big part of the chess community, and now they’re helping me get closer to my goal of becoming the best player I can be, and even dream of becoming the number one. This means so much to me, and I can’t wait to make them proud!”
“ICC is building for the future, and we believe Faustino will occupy a very prominent place in the future of chess,” adds David Llada, ICC’s Director of Communications, who, during his career has witnessed the rise of many young talents. Llada highlights Fausti’s potential not only as a player, but also as an entertainer: “He is a natural. He is witty, confident and fun at such a young age and that makes him very special.”
With this sponsorship, the new ICC makes its opening move in the global chess board, empowering the next generation of chess players and fostering innovation and excellence in the game.
As part of this partnership, Faustino will play regularly on ICC, interact with our global chess community, serve as a role model for young players worldwide, and be a brand ambassador for ICC in tournaments.
Alejandro Oro, Faustino’s father, spent countless hours playing on ICC himself, years before Fausti had even been born.
Faustino, who made headlines earlier this year when he became the youngest International Master in history (at 10 years, 8 months, and 16 days), is currently in Buenos Aires, preparing for his next two big competitions: The Argentinian Championship (Nov 26-Dec 6), where he is the 8th seed among 12 players, and the World Rapid and Blitz Championship in New York (Dec 26-31), where he will have the chance to compete against the very best players in the world. He has already beaten most of them playing online - will he manage to do it face-to-face?
Stay tuned for exclusive content and updates on Faustino’s journey on ICC’s official channels.
