Learning Technique

In the new Improve Your Chess series, Dan provides instruction by reviewing amateur games played on ICC and showing where the players went wrong and how to improve.

Today's show: In a game between two lower rated players, White drops a piece in the opening, and then later another. Black initially shows good technique, but then blunders one piece back and gives back the second, leaving him still with a technically winning endgame. There Black goes more subtly wrong, probably throwing away the win, but instead of doing nothing and making Black show progress, White varies and allows Black again on a path to victory, this time achieved.
