GM Petrov’s Attacking Ideas in the Openings - Video 3: Close Sicilian for White

Opening: B31: Sicilian: Nimzovich-Rossolimo attack (with ...g6, without ...d6)

In this video, GM Marian shows you 3 ideas on how to get a sharp position in different lines when white does not wish to enter into the main Sicilian. In the Rossolimo, after Bb5, when black goes g6, you can try the move c3; now black probably has to play Nf6, but in the case of Bg7, you can give a pawn for a powerful attack. Then in the lines with 2. c3 in one of the main lines, where black goes Nf6 and then b6, there is another exciting idea of getting the initiative with another pawn sac. And finally, you can go into the main closed Sicilian and try the plan with Be3 and Qd2. After this, the idea is Bh6 and to open the h file after h4, h5.
