Chess Olympiad R10: Gukesh takes down Caruana - AGAIN!

recap
India is just one draw away from winning its first gold at a Chess Olympiad. Having already faced all the main favorites, something would have to go seriously wrong in the final round against Slovenia for the victory to slip away. This could easily turn into a double gold, as the Women’s team, along with Kazakhstan, enters the last round as co-leaders. India’s opponent in the 10th round was the formidable USA team. Wesley So was the first to score for his team, defeating Praggnanandhaa—marking the first and so far only loss by an Indian player in the competition. However, there was no need to panic, as both Gukesh and Arjun had already secured clear advantages, which they converted with precision. What a sensational performance by these two young Indian players, who are just a few points away from crossing the 2800 rating mark for the first time in their careers! In the Women’s Olympiad, India returned to its winning ways after two tough rounds, achieving a crucial victory against China today. This result allowed them to tie with Kazakhstan for first place, as the team led by Bibisara Assaubayeva could only manage a draw against Georgia—all games ended in draws!
