First ever match Husband vs. Wife: GM Atalik plays IM Atalik!

Chalkida Chess Academy “Palamedes of Evia” will host a friendly chess match between Turkish Grandmaster Suat Atalik and his wife, IM/WGM Ekaterina Atalik, as a prelude to the International Chess Tournament “Negroponte 2012”.

This unique event is the first ever chess match between husband and wife, who also happen to be the winners (overall and women’s category respectively) of the previous edition of “Negroponte”, in 2010.

Hosting this match in Chalkida is a vivid example of the true spirit of Greek hospitality, as well as the increasingly strong bonds of friendship between the Greek and Turkish people. This aim is furthered by the fact that Suat Atalik was, in 1994, the first ever sportsman to play in the Greek League for a greek team in any sport.

The match will consist of two classical games, four rapid games and eight blitz games. The schedule is as follows:

1st day 7th of August :
11:00 o'clock press conference,
12:00 first game(90 minutes till the end of the game with 30 seconds increment.)
17:00 second game

2nd day 8th of August :
11:00 2 rapid games(15 minutes with 10 seconds increment)
15:00 2 rapid games.
20:00  simultane GΜ Suat Atalik και την IM/WGM Ekaterina Atalik

3rd day 9th of August :
11:00 8 blitz games (3 minutes and 2 seconds of increment)
