Attack with LarryC: Zwish You Happy Holidays!

Opening: B40: Sicilian Defense

Player(s):

In this episode of "Attack with LarryC!" GM Christiansen shows us what the German word Zwischenzug means. In English, it is "in between - or intermezzo - move": a player, instead of playing the expected move (commonly a recapture) first interposes another move, posing an immediate threat that the opponent must address, and then plays the expected move. This is a very important motif in tactical chess. The game Larry uses to show us an excellent example of Zwischenzug was played in 2012 by the promising youngsters IM Moosavian and GM Pantsulaia.
