Years ago Dr. Zigbert Tarrasch proclaimed that one who's scared of playing with an isolated pawn shouldn't be playing chess at all. Since then patterns of White's play have long been established: quick, harmonious development, avoiding unnecessary exchanges and aiming for the kingside attack.
