In this series Indiana-jones, also known as GM Ronen Har-Zvi, will travel in time and show us some of the greatest moments and games of the past editions of the US Championship, as a fun and educational preparation for the 2014 US championship, coming in about a week. The name Stuart Rachels does not mean much to most chess fans; many might have never heard his name before, but he was without any doubt in charge of creating one if not the biggest surprises in the U.S. Championship History. In 1989, in a fieid full with pretty much just GMs, and the top of the top ones, such as Seirawan, Benjamin, Browne, Kudrin and others, a 20 year old FM, not even an IM, finished the tournament without a loss with 4 win and 11 draws to claim the title of US Champion sharing spots 1-3 witth Seirawan and Dzindzichashvili. Let's see the most interesting games from that incredible Championship.
