The European Individual Chess Championship, being played these days in Jerusalem, is offering interesting games, and our Tactician Master GM Larry Christiansen is taking advantage of the pearls he can find either in the lower and the top boards. The first snippet of this week's show is a little but amazing attacking game - played between Israeli IM Igor Bitensky and Romanian WIM Camelia Ciobanu - which shows how a rather passive move in the opening can lead to disaster. Then Larry goes on with the main dish, the game played between the uber-strong Czech GM David Navara - who can be a demonic attacking player - and the Romanian GM Mircea-Emilian Parligras. Navara unleash a vicous attack, taking advantage of his advanced pawn formation. Navara combines deep calculation and pure chess intuition, to destroy his opponent.
