GM Petrov’s Sicilian Dragon - Video 5 - White castles queenside after 6.Be3

Opening: B72: Sicilian Dragon 6.Bf3

Player(s):

In the 5th installment of his fantastic series on the Sicilian Dragon, GM Marian Petrov discuss one of the main variations. White, instead of castling kingside, finally do it queenside. After the "canonic" moves 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 g6 6. Be3 Bg7, White has to prepare his castling queenside, and he does that by playing 7.f3, to avoid Black's Ng4, which would open the chance to exchange White's bishop in e3. That exchange overall would be very good for White. Now, after Black plays 0-0, White castles queenside. And form there, GM Marian will show you all the subtleties and strategic plans to play - as Black - this very famous line of the Dragon.
