GM Petrov’s Mastering the Sicilian Sveshnikov - Video 3

Opening: B33: Sicilian Sveshnikov

Player(s):

In this video, GM Marian shows you the line where black plays early e5, trying to deviate a bit from Svestnikov. Sometimes black can revert to it by playing later Nf6. Overall, white should play Nb5 again, then black can choose between a6 and d6. d6 is preferable, and now if white wants to play something different, he can try c4. If he goes N1c3 after a6 and b5, we have almost the main lines. Now black can deviate by playing Nge7 or even Nce7 instead of Nf6. There are some sharp lines in case white goes Bg5, but they are OK for black. If white goes for c4, this is the critical line in which sometimes black has to sac a pawn for activity.
