Attack with LarryC: discovering an obscure awesome game

Opening: D71: Neo-Grünfeld, 5.cd

Player(s): Paar, Wheatcroft

The game LarryC is going to review this week, in his Attack with LarryC! show was brought to his attention during a recent simul/lecture he held in Chicago. It is a remarkably brilliant game, played in 1938 in London between two Englishmen: Frank Parr and Goerge Waatcroft. Frank Parr was a long-time active club player in England, with no special reputation. He was 2200-2300 at his peak, but in this game he definitely plays like a super-GM. To his credit, his opponent plays well and ingeniously, which leads to an absolutely spectacular final conclusion of the game.
