NOESCAPE

***** NOESCAPE *****

Tired of adjourned games and disconnecting opponents?

The solution is here!

There is a variable "noEscape" on the ICC. Type "set noescape on"
to turn it on. If you and your opponent both have this turned on
when the game starts, then whoever disconnects during the game will
lose the game. The game will NOT be adjourned and stored.

Note that this is a completely voluntary feature. It applies only
to games in which both players have "noescape" turned on. If either
player has their noescape variable off when the game starts, then the
usual adjournment rules apply when one of the players disconnects.

Note that if you get disconnected, you have 120 seconds to reconnect
back to chessclub.com before your game will be forfeited. This applies
only to involuntary disconnects, not to cases in which you close your
Blitzin window.

Do you want to play only against people who also have their noescape
variable turned on? You can do that by setting your formula:
"set formula noescape". Then you can do a seek that requires opponents
to match your formula: "seek 2 12 f" for example.

The noescape variable is saved from one login to the next. When a game
is resumed, the settings at the time of resumption apply, not the
settings when the game first started.

Here is a comment typical of dozens we have received about noescape:

"Very good initiative, I've been waiting for this for years. I'd rather
lose a game through an occasional accidental disconnection on my part
than see an unfair opponent getting away with it in a hopeless position!!"
