DISCONNECT

***** DISCONNECT *****

If you get disconnected from ICC during a game you are playing,
the game is usually stored. You must resume the game with your
opponent by logging back in and typing "resume". You can also
resign a stored game by typing "resign Fred" for example, if your
opponent is Fred. The "stored" command lists all of your stored games.

The ICC has no way to determine if a disconnection is intentional or
not. So we usually do not forfeit people when they disconnect. But
in some cases you will lose the game when you disconnect:

1) You are in your 7-day free trial period, have not paid a membership
fee yet, and already have 2 stored games in which you disconnected.

2) If you have 10 stored games in which you are the one who disconnected,
you will lose any future bullet games in which you get disconnected.

3) You have been put on the disconnectors list by the adjudicate
account. This is done to people who have large numbers of stored games,
or people who refuse to resume their stored games.

4) You and your opponent both had noescape turned on when the game began.
If you never want to have to deal with stored games and resuming,
please read "help noescape".

5) It's a 5-minute or 1-minute game (i.e., a game started with
those commands, see "help five-minute" or "help one-minute")

Other information regarding disconnections:

- If the game was adjourned because your opponent disconnected, you will
receive a 15 second bonus to your clock. This is a compromise solution
between forfeiting the disconnecting player, and having no penalty at
all. The 15 seconds should give the victim of the disconnection some
time to reorient himself/herself when the game is resumed.

- If you get disconnected but are able to reconnect and log in quickly,
in some cases you will "reattach" and be able to continue your game
as if nothing happened. The 15-second rule won't apply in those cases.
Under no-escape rules, your clock will have been running the whole
time though.
