***** Decathlon ***** On Saturday, September 16th, 2000, in honor of the Summer Olympics being held in Australia, the Tomato family of automated TDs will run an Olympic Decathlon event. This event will run in lieu of the marathon normally held. This event is a 2 day event consisting of 5 events on the first day and 5 events the second day. As in the Olympics the decathlon measures endurance and general overall skills. We at Chessclub.com wish to do the same thing over the chessboard to see who has the endurance and overall skills to become Champion. Chessclub.com Senior Manager Silk, (our Australian representative) will have the honor of starting the Decathlon event on each day. Let the games begin and enjoy this rare event. DAY ONE EVENTS: 01) Blitz 2-6 02) Wild w23 3-0 03) Bullet 1-2 04) Wild w25 3-0 05) Blitz 3-0 DAY TWO EVENTS: 06) Bullet 2-1 07) Wild w17 3-1 08) Blitz 5-0 09) Bullet 1-0 10) Standard 15-0 All events are 16 round tournaments, swiss style and run on the LittlePer bot. This scheduled event will be cancelled for this decathlon. PRIZES: Will be split into 2 classes 1600+ and Under 1600. Individual Event winners (2 weeks) Overall Winners each class (1st 2 months) (2nd 1 month) (3rd 2 weeks) SCORING: To determine prize winners, all points scored in one event by a player will be added to a series for the decathlon. The Blitz rating will be used as the basis for overall prizes. LAG: The managers have complete discretion in determining lag forfeits. If you are lagging, please do not enter the decathlon because the manager can and will forfeit you from the tournament. A general rule of thumb, which players may judge their own lag can be derived from the pings. A lag time of over 5000ms (2000ms for bullet) is generally unacceptable. Lag times can be calculated by adding average ping times with standard deviation (this can be found out by using the ping command). COMPUTERS & ASSISTANCE: Absolutely no aid from computer-playing programs is allowed. Assistance may not be received from other chess players during your games and you may not have someone else play on your ChessClub.com account for you. Either of these violates not only the tournament rules, but also the ChessClub.com user agreement, and may result in sanctions up to banning from ChessClub.com. CONTACT INFO: For more information about the decathlon, please contact Pappy, Folgers, WilyEcote, or actor on Chessclub.com. Thank you and we hope to see you during the decathlon.
