***** MonthlyStandard ***** Tomato presents a new type of tournament, suitable for longer time controls. The tournament starts in the Pear bot on the first Saturday of a month at 12 noon. As usual, you can join shortly before starting time by typing 'tell Pear join' or clicking the item in your event list. On each Saturday, three rounds of 15 5 (rated, Swiss parings) will be played. This gives a total of 12 rounds (in months with 4 Saturdays) or 15 rounds (in months with 5 Saturdays), thus a really long standard tournament which would be impossible without breaks inbetween. After those 3 rounds, the tournament is suspended. On the next Saturday, all the players that were in at the time of suspension will be joined again to the tournament. Those that are not present at the time of the start, will be removed. It is possible to late- join the tournament also, by doing 'tell Pear latejoin'. One could also rejoin after leaving the tournament, or not playing on one Saturday, also by doing 'tell Pear latejoin'. There are 1/2 point byes given to latejoiners, but no bye-points are issued to those who miss one or more rounds after playing at least one round. There are no obligations to play every game, notably, there are no dr-points in this tournament. However, if you want to win one of the PRIZES, it might be a good idea to play every Saturday! Prizes are extensions to your ICC account: Best Winner -- 1 month Best Second -- 1/2 month Best Third -- 1/2 month Most Winner -- 1 month Most Second -- 1/2 month Most Third -- 1/2 month Amongst those who play every round, but failed to finish in the top three, another prize of 1 month is given to the player scoring most points within that group, and 1/2 month given to second and third within that group. In the event of tied points, Tomato tiebreaks will determine the order of prizewinners. NOTE: Needless to say, all ICC rules apply in this tournament, in particular, it is strictly prohibited to use help from other players or chess computer programs. If you have a question about this series, message billscotty or BigCol on ICC. See also: Tomato, tournaments, dr-pts
