INTRO: This tournament offers players a match-style elimination in which they must lose 2 out of 3 games before being ELIMINATED.
The system works as follows: we have a normal single elimination with the difference being that each player plays, at most, 3 games in each pairing. The player winning 2/3 advances to the next stage - the loser is eliminated.
# OF ROUNDS: With 16 players, the maximum number of rounds is 12 (the minimum is 8 - should everyone be eliminated after only 2 games in each match). NOTE that the bot will report 128 rounds, this is incorrect!!
BRACKETED PAIRINGS (16-players): In the first round, players are paired higher rated vs lower as follows: 16-1, 9-8, 13-4, 12-5 ; 15-2, 10-7, 14-3, 11-6 The winner of 16-1 plays the winner of 9-8; the winner of 13-4 plays the winner of 12-5 in the 2nd round, and etc.
COLORS/DRAWS: The lower rated player ALWAYS plays white first, then black and, if 3rd game needed, white again. DRAWS count as win for Black, except where Black is rated 200+ points above White. In that case, White wins on Draws. The rating used is the pre-tourney rating: use t
THIRD PLACE in the tourney will be awarded to: 1) the best scoring loser of the SEMIFINAL, or 2) if both SEMIFINAL losers score the same: awarded to the one losing to the winner of the FINAL.
