Privacy Notice to Parents and Guardians

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 and its rules (collectively, " COPPA") require us to inform parents and legal guardians ("parents") about our practices for collecting, using, and disclosing Personal Information from children under the age of 13 ("children"). This Privacy Notice to Parents and Guardians (“Notice”) supplements our general Privacy Notice and notifies parents and guardians of (i) the types of Personal Information we may collect from children; (ii) how we use the Personal Information we collect; (iii) our practices for disclosing Personal Information of children; and (iv) our requirement for obtaining consent when we collect Personal Information from children, including how a parent or guardian may revoke consent.
Personal Information We Collect from Children
Children can access many parts of our Site and use many of its features without providing us with Personal Information. However, some content and features are available only to registered members. In addition, we may use certain technologies such as cookies to automatically collect information from our users when they visit or use our Site. We only collect information about children with their parent or guardian’s consent as set forth in the Terms of Service, and we collect only as much information as is reasonably necessary for children to use our Site and/or create a membership with us. We do not condition children’s participation on the disclosure of more Personal Information than is reasonably necessary.
Personal Information We Collect Directly. We collect Personal Information directly when children register an account or create a membership with us. Automatic Collection. We may use Google Analytics and other similar technology to automatically collect information from our users, including children, when they access and navigate through our Site and use certain of its features. The information we collect through these technologies may include the type of device you are using, your operating system, IP address, and length of session. How We Use Children’s Personal Information
We use Personal Information we collect from children as described in the “How We Use Personal Information” section of our general Privacy Notice. For example, we use children’s Personal Information to:
- Provide our Site and make sure children can use it properly;
- Manage and administer accounts and memberships;
- Respond to any questions, comments or complaints we receive;
- Communicate regarding account or membership purposes;
- Investigate potentially illegal or deceptive activity, or violations of our rules;
- Analyze usage of our Site; and
- Improve our Site.
Disclosure of Children's Personal Information
We may disclose children's Personal Information as described in the “How We Disclose Personal Information” section of our general Privacy Notice. We do not share, sell, rent, or transfer children's Personal Information except as set forth therein. We may also disclose aggregated information about children and information that does not identify any particular individual or device.
Consent to Collection of Children’s Personal Information
For a child under the age of 13 to use our Site, parents or guardians must provide consent as set forth in the Terms of Service.
Accessing and Correcting Children’s Personal Information
Parents and guardians can review, change, or delete their child's Personal Information by logging into the child's account and visiting his or her account profile page, or sending us an email at support@chessclub.com. To protect your privacy and security, we may require you to take certain steps or provide additional information to verify your identity before we provide any information or make corrections.
