Born in Leningrad, Aleksandr Lenderman arrived with his family in Brooklyn when he was four, and won multiple national and scholastic chess events, culminating with his victory in the 2005 World Under-16 Championship in Belfort.

Aleksandr collaborated with the ICC when he still was an International Master, creating instructive videos on chess openings.
