I have not seen a voting thread in the past few months so I thought I’d make one.  This is not official, I’m just polling the community here and
suggesting some time controls.  Recent conversations with other users indicated many of us would desire a faster time control
than the recurring 25 + xx’s.

Games this fast will likely cull the 3 or 4 manual pool players and have about as much chess study value as bullet games. Maybe there are too many players to suit some?

Its not about culling anyone.  There is only 1 manual who plays enough games to qualify and that’s you Ozso.  When the time control is 25+10 YOU are automatically culled as you won’t get 100 games in.  Its Dec23rd and you have 64 games, not likely to go > 100.  I did plead the case earlier to reduce the number of required games down from 100, but that was not well received, so please don’t imply that this is about exclusion when it’s about maintaining interest in the event.

Several other users have relayed to me that with Syzygy EGTB’s (which no one is getting rid of) these 25+10 marathons just take a bit too long.  Seeing 100+ moves of R+P egtb isn’t interesting to anyone.  As far as the study value goes, it plays a role prior to the game and after the game, but not so much during the game.

I agree with Data.  It’s time for a short (or no) increment.  The unending K & R vs. K & R endgames, or the obviously drawn opposite-color bishop endgames when a pawn move re-starts the 50-move countdown yet again, are tedious and time-wasting.

I completely agree with Data. Looking at endless endgames in totally drawn TB positions is not funny and is destroying all interest playing in the Computer Pool. A draw offer does not help, as the opponent probably already lost interest and left the computer on its own.

My engine will auto-accept a draw if the opponent is rated higher.
