Hi I am new to ICC . I am using the 30 day free trial. Can I use the free trial to get 25 games in to earn a chess ratting? Where should I start. Do the shorter games like blitz games count for your score? I am not ready to spend all day playing chess on my computer. About 1/2 hour to 1 hour is about all I can do right now. All or any help is welcome . Thank you

Hey.
Welcome to ICC!

the best way to get a game is to participate in the pools.
Which time control would you like to play?
you can play 1-minute (bullet chess), 3-minute and 5-minute (Blitz chess) or 25-minute (rapid chess).
To get a game, say a 5-minute game, type in your console /5, or click the “5” button.

To get an established rating, you need 20 played games in a given category.
Consider that in ICC you can get different ratings for each time control you play.

I hope this helps.

I think it does. I am not sure what a 3 minuet game is does that mean the total game last only 3 minuet for the entire game or doe that you must move in less tha 3 minuets? I have never done this.

It means that you start with three minutes on the clock, and yes, you have to finish the game within 3 minutes. If you’re not an expert, it’d be best if you played some slower Time Control. Start with 5-minute, and if it’s still too fast, go with 15-minute.

The problem is that the pools don’t have an increment so, by in large, they’re quite useless and outdated. This very thing has kept ICC subs down for years now.
