First day in Paris.
Caruana started big, beating Nakamura and Duda in the first two rounds. Anand won his first two games too, against Nepomniachtchi and Giri.
In the third round, the early leaders played each other, with the game ending in a draw.
Caruana and Anand lead the standings after the first of the three days of Rapid.
In Rapid, a win is 2 points and a draw 1 point.

Second Day in Paris.
Vachier-Lagrave had a great day. MVL won two games and draw one, taking the lead. Caruana, on the contrary, had a rough day, losing two of the three games. With one day and three games to go, MLV leads with a one-point advantage over Anand and Duda.

Paris, Day 3.

Vachier-Lagrave proved to be the most in-form in Rapid, maintaining the leadership of the tournament after the three-day play in Paris.
Tomorrow is a rest day, but we will have our GM Alex Yermolinsky recap these three days LIVE on ICCTV!
Don’t miss the show.

Paris, Day 4.

The two-day Blitz madness started today, with 9 rounds at 5+3 which proved to be fun to follow.
The rest day clearly reinvigorated the players, and they provided us with nine rounds of exciting chess. MVL maintained his lead but had a rough blitz result by his high standards. Grischuk had a rough day at the office, while Hikaru dominated and Fabiano also had a good day.
MVL scored “only” 50%, which considering that he’s the World Blitz #1 looked rather bad. But he’s still in the lead and plays as the favorite entering the last day. If he can find his form in Blitz, he should come out as the winner in Paris.
In Blitz, a win is 1 point and a draw is 0.5 points.

Paris, Day 5.

MVL did it! Despite Anand fighting like a lion in blitz, the three points advantage MVL accumulated in the Rapid section proved to be too much, even for the Indian gentleman.
The last day in Paris was a rollercoaster, like many Blitz events which see the participation of monsters such as MVL, Anand, Nakamura, Duda, Nepomniachtchi…
The GCT Rapid and Blitz in St. Louis is only a few days away, and it’ll be another great event, this time with the Numero Uno in it, ready to affirm once again his superiority.

crazy tournament 21/36 is a very low score for first place

MVL & Hikaru scored 23 at Côte D’Ivoire & Magnus won with 26.5

The wildcards did very well this week.
