How do I use examine on the chess at icc app?  I can start to examine a game, forward and reverse work, but I can’t seem to,figure out how I do a different move using the app.  Blitzin it worked great, but the iOS app not so much

The ICC official iOS app does not support entering moves in examine mode currently.  Its for viewing games.  On my quest to build iOS apps to land a job as a mobile developer(which did work out for me), i made an alternative ICC interface called lantern chess in app store.  It does support all examine functionality. iTunes preview link is https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/lantern-chess-online-and-more/id743520893?mt=8

Paid members and guests can use it, it just doesn’t have free trial support which is only on interfaces made by chessclub itself. It’s free. There is one in app purchase but not needed for any of the ICC use. The in app is for extra features in opening study and wild chess variant play agains the engine.  ICC has kept the formats to talk to the icc server open and i’m one of many third party interfaces made over the years by programming enthusiasts to play chess online on icc.

On ICC download page if the user clicks the third ‘web’ tab(to right), there is a small writeup about the three lantern interfaces there and link to http://www.lanternchess.com home page. We somehow got on that page because the first lantern interface for computers, i.e. Macs and Windows and Linux computer, is Java (the iOS one is not, it’s a native iOS App), and all the Java apps except Lantern can run in the browser as well, so it’s categorized as web smile
