I have a dual boot machine, Windows 7 and Linux Mint Debian. Mostly I use Linux, but there are some apps that work much better under Windows. The last time I tried to run Blitzin using Wine on Linux, I would frequently encounter memory leak problems. I never tried Dasher. There’s a Java client called JIN, but it lacks features I have become used to.

Are there other Linux users out there who have had more success?

i mostly use Thief in Wine when i’m on my mint boot up.  it’s archaic and simple, but it gets the job done as far as chess goes.

There is another Java client, Lantern Chess, works for Mac, Linux and Windows that is getting popular with Linux users. It has quite a few more features than Jin.  http://www.LanternChess.com
