You asked and we listened! By popular request, games will now have a 10 second grace period at the start of each game before any time is lost! This feature will prevent you from losing valuable time at the start of a game if you’re not ready to make your move. Not only that, it gives you time to look at information about your opponent, like pstat, or history games to see what openings your opponent prefers. Both players will have this grace period on move 1.
Yawn. I’ll be impressed when one player can start a tourney game. I’ve been in tourneys waiting close to an hour for an opponent to accept. OTB tournies do that. You can too. No more time lost when your game starts? Big deal.
Terrible, terrible, terrible idea. Why should the player fast off the mark get penalized, give the snoozer an extra ten seconds. The point in 3 and 2 minute games is to play fast, not to reward the snails. Get rid of this “innovation”.
Meh, I see it as just a crutch for those who aren’t really ready to play bullet, or want to do things like check pstat after the game has started (?!).
Nice idea. A related issue is when to terminate a game if an opponent delays a first move. Maybe after thirty seconds the game is terminated and a new invitation to play offered?
Appreciate this change. Like it on Chess.com, good to see the same here. Only thing is, I would prefer it if the time remained at zero until a move is made not revert to zero.
In standard games, less appealing than the 10 seconds time either way , is being able to review your opponents previous games during the match . I wasn’t aware of that , and generally not in favor of that feature . Great site here - looking forward to many more matches .
