Steve Crayne grew up in New York and learned how to play chess watching the historic Bobby Fischer versus Boris Spassky in 1972. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Creative Writing from the State University of New York in Oswego. His claim to fame came in the late seventies when he was one of only three players to earn a draw in a 100-player Grand Master Simultaneous tournament.
Before moving to Atlanta in 2004, he taught chess for two years at Gold Hill Elementary School in Tega Cay, South Carolina and took their team to National Elementary School Championships in 2004. Says Steve Crayne, “When a parent comes up to me and says I made a difference in their child’s life it’s an amazing feeling, it’s something that just does not happen in the corporate world.”
Besides Chess, Steve has a lifelong passion for movies having seen over 4,000 movies.
