I am Life Master Mike Petersen, originally from Orlando, Florida, but now living the dream in
Decameron, Panama. I am one of only a few players who have won the Florida State Championship
more than once. However, that was when I was in my prime, winning in 1981 and again in 1983.
Now I am too old to play that well. My blitz rating has been steadily
declining for several years. I find that my results vary drastically as time
goes by. I can't play faster than 5-0, and even then I lose many games on time.
It really doesn't bother me anymore. I enjoy playing chess and, at the tender age of 67,
I find it gives me much more enjoyment and relaxation than when I was active in tournaments.
I have retired from active tournament play. However, if anyone wants to have a game, then send a
