If dogs could play chess, humans wouldn't pride themselves over it so much. Humans would just say, "Look at those silly dogs, wasting their valuable time and all."

Of course, if monkeys could play chess, humans would probably feel compelled to have to show them who's boss. It seems that family resemblance gives rise to the irresistible force of a pecking order in nature even if it concerns a waste of time.
