Personal Notes

The Lewis trove of chess pieces was discovered in a sand bank on the Isle of Lewis in 1831. They were buried in a stone box. My avatar is the Berserker Rook from that set.

Experts believe the pieces were made in Trondheim, Norway, in the 12th century.

The Isle of Lewis is in Scotland, off the northwestern coast, in the Outer Hebrides Islands.

Part of the Lewis trove is on exhibit in the British Museum, London, England.

If I beat you, I was lucky; if you beat me, you were luckier!

I've worked with two chess coaches, both FM's, and I learned much from both. Now I'm forging ahead without a coach, and I am a coach. Excelsior!!

Rematches not always given, as sometimes I like to immediately analyze the game with the computer.

Mouse-racers in their tiny little mouse cars, big Mickey ears flapping as they zip about in lost positions, trying to substitute speed for chess ability; they are painted clowns on parade.

say Thanks for playing the game, a pleasant day/evening to you!!, and may you live in a country that does not have a criminal idiot for a President!
