Moving the pieces

The way you move the chess pieces is determined by your Piece Movement setting:

The default method is Drag & Drop. That is, you left-click on a chess piece and while continuing to hold down the mouse button, you drag your mouse to the destination square and release the mouse button.

The Point & Click method method requires that you left-click on the piece to be moved and then left-click on the destination square to complete the move. This method is preferred by players who want to take extra care that their move is correct, and that they do not accidently release the mouse button too soon, as sometimes happen in the Drag & Drop method.

Another option affecting the way you move the pieces is premove, where you can use one of the above techniques to make your moves in advance, while your opponent is on the clock.
