Internet and Message Options

There are several options available to customize the way your messages are managed, accessible in the General tab of the Settings dialog.

Reduce bandwidth Checking the Reduce Required Bandwidth (Dialup Only) box tells the software to adjust the data routinely transferred back and forth so as not to overtax a slow connection.

Checking the Email messages box will cause all messages sent to you to be forwarded to the email address registered to your account. If you use messaging in any significant way, this can help you by letting you know someone is trying to contact you without even being on the server.

When you log in your messages are downloaded to your local computer. Checking the Leave a copy of messages on server box will cause the client software to not delete them, hence recording them in two places at once. This is most useful if you log in from more than one location (e.g. work and home) and want to be sure that you don't read a message at work and then be unable to read it again at home when you are ready to respond.
