Many times, you would like to advertise your interest in a particular
game type on the Seek Graph. For example, 3 0 rated blitz, 30 0 unrated
standard, or 1 0 rated crazyhouse. To do this, first select the Seek Game
item in the Actions menu. This will
raise the seek dialog, in which you can describe the kind of game you
wish to play:
Choosing the Time, Increment, Type of game, and whether the game is rated or not are the most important things to keep in mind here. If you are just starting, leave all the others as default until you are ready for more advanced use.
Advanced options include:
- Rating Range: Set this if you want to restrict the rating of your opponents to a certain range, e.g. 1000-1400, or 1800+. The more you restrict this, the smaller the number of people who can accept your ad, so be careful.
- Color: choose black or white if you want to specify the color with which you wish to play. Note that for general seeks, random is the usual choice, but there are cases where one might wish to specify the color, to work on a particular opening as white or something.
- Formula: Checking this box will apply your formula to the seek.
- Manual: Normally, when someone accepts your seek, the game starts immediately. However, checking this box will mean that when someone accepts your seek, the game won't start until you accept his challenge.
- Recent: This allows you to simply select one of your recent seeks without filling out the dialog, Simply select the one you want
