ICC News Item #186
NEWS 186 (1-Sep-95) ICC will Broadcast the Intel World Championships Live!
Can't go to New York for the Kasparov-Anand Match? Don't panic!
The Internet Chess Club has made arrangements with Intel to show the
Intel World Championship Match live on ICC. PCA World Champion Kasparov
takes on challenger Anand. ICC members can watch and discuss the games
as they are happening, and watch our Grandmaster and International
Master commentary. Unregistered players will not be able to view the
games or commentary on ICC.
The 20-game match lasts from September 11 to October 13, with 4 games per
week, every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 3pm EDT (7pm GMT).
ICC will have a computer operator in the VIP section at the match, entering
the moves as soon as they are made, into an ICC display game. He will also
be within view of the players and provide comments on their actions and
expressions. :)
The Internet Chess Club will have live IM and/or GM commentary on the games.
The titled players will be logged into ICC and will make commentary and
analysis while the game is in progress in a special channel. Strong computer
programs will also be in the commentary channel to provide evaluations. A
discussion channel on ICC will be designated for lesser mortals to discuss
and predict moves with ICC chess players from around the world.
