NEWS 1136 (6-Feb-99)
NCCL starts February 7 on ICC.

The ICC is hosting the USCF's National Collegiate Chess League.
Eight College teams from around the United States are participating.
The 5-round Swiss team event will be played from February 7 to
March 14, with one round each Sunday at 3pm EST (no round Feb 14).
Each team has 4 players in each match.  Time control is 120 5 (120
minutes plus 5-second increment).  help NCCL for complete rules.

The first-round pairings for February 7 at 3pm EST are:

CORNELL UNIV.   (CORN)    VS.  UMBC                (UMBC)
UNIV. TEXAS     (UTEX)    VS.  MONTGOMERY COLLEGE  (MONT)
U.S. AIR FORCE  (USAF)    VS.  PRINCETON UNIV.     (PRIN)
UNIV. ILLINOIS  (UILL)    VS.  BRYN ATHYN          (BACC)

The 4 boards for each team will be playing using handles consisting
of the 4-letter college code plus the numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4.  For
example, The Air Force Academy will be using handles USAF1, USAF2,
USAF3, and USAF4.

All ICC members are invited to watch the action and root for the
team of their choice.  You can "observe" any of the handles listed
above to watch.  Please use "whisper" and not "kibitz" to make
comments to the other spectators.
