- Where is your favorite place to play chess?

Brazil and the ICC!

- How many countries have you played rated games in?

Around 17. It’s a pity that I didn't play any tournament during my vacation in China last year. At least I learned some Chinese chess instead.

- If you could go back in time and play in any tournament in history, what would it be?

Any tournament that had Bobby Fischer.

- Who was the most sportsmanlike opponent you have ever faced, and what were you most impressed by about him or her?

Most of my opponents have been pretty correct players. The most impressive situation was caused by a very courteous opponent though. One time I was facing this guy, whom I'll call K, and a GM from UTDallas approaches to see the game. My opponent says to him “May I help you?” Totally unexpected.

- True or false: chess is primarily a social activity.

False! It is a war game and a question without answer--otherwise the line "WHITE TO PLAY AND WIN” would be always found under the diagram of the initial position.

- What advice would you give to other college students?

Meet up at least twice a week with your teammates to study and practice chess together. In absence of teammates, follow the Chris Dobbs' method and practice some tactics on your own every day.

- If you could take only one book with you on a yearlong trip, what would it be?

"Chinese for Dummies"... If not that, I would randomly pick any novel by Umberto Eco. I could read it again and again.

- Name a skill that benefits you only in chess but not in life.

I can concentrate and remain silent for hours when playing chess but in real life I cannot make use of this skill since I need to talk.

- Which weighs more, a pound of feathers or a pound of bricks?

They weigh the same, yay!
