Some
results of the week
Keep an on the scheduled Events,
connect in time, then, jump in!
On Dasher, click in menu bar - Window - Activities then
select the Events tab. That is where you find most
of the info about... guess what... EVENTS ! Under (To)day Events, you
find scheduled events, MasterChallenge, Simul, etc. But also the live
games that are broadcasted. Under them are the "tomorrow events" as far
there is no last minute change. But above the Today Events, there is a
line name "scheduled events with titled players this week"
and it opens a webpage.
vs
is
probably the toughest Time Control for the Masters. So, in
most on cases, we go for a 1 0 vs 2 1. Still one
more minute for the player!
Let's see the results of the week:
Tursday, March
27th | 10:00 EDT
WGM Anna Zatonskih 19wins
in
a row with a time control 1 1 vs 2 1. Below, the funny position she
reached to mate her opponent. She should have got 5 bishops
but
she blundered a passed pawn.

Thursday March
27th | 15:00 EDT
GM
Alex Finkel perfect
score too with 15 wins.
Friday, March
28th| 15:00 EDT
GM Viktor Gavrikov played
a Master Challenge, 16 wins and 1 loss to MaryDawson.
Saturday, March
29th |
15:00 EDT
FM Dragan Drasko
played 15 games, won 11 and lost to Teme2000
ArnoldMuscat
TGrun
and EduardoAbramson.
Monday, March
31st | 15:00 EDT
GM Yuri Solodovnichenko played
Time-Odds
MasterChallenge. In Time-Odds, the Master plays 1+1 and
his opponent from 1+1 to 1+4 according to his rating. 16 wins, clear
sheet!
Monday, March
31st | 19:00 EDT
IM Goran Vojinovic (back
after some health trouble) didn' lose any of the 16 games he played but
teme2000 drew twice.
Wednesday, April
2nd | 15:00 EDT
GM Vitali Golod strikes
again! following the Aprils'Fool Piece-Odds he gave the day before, he
went for a time-Odds MasterChallenge and then crushed his 18 opponents.
Monday, April
2nd | 19:00 EDT
GM Yuri Solodovnicheko 17
out
of 19, 1 loss to ELU and
1 raw to Brock
Piece-Odds
Sunday, March
30th | 19:00 EDT
GM Vitali Golod was
playing his
Piece-Odds on . 13 wins and 3 losses to
VAIBHAVBHAT and Lena.
Tuesday, April
1st | 19:00 EDT
GM
Vitali Golod was
there again for an Aprils Fool
Piece-Odds!
Instead of an usual piece-odds, Vitali was surprised to see all the
comers playing with a pawn up in the fist 15 minutes, whatevever was
their ratings, then a knight up, a bishop up and foe the last 15 min, a
rook up to any body ! But this expert in piece-odds gave his
best
and won 17 out of 19 games, losing only to Lena and DGajovic.
Of course, only members can play, so become
a member!

Banter played this week:
During
the 25 5 game, the two Masters whisper their thoughts
and their plans. Of course, they can't read what their opponent is
planning. Always interesting to try to understand how a Master thinks!
When the game finishes, the players review the game together,
exploring other lines and analyzing their mistakes.
FM Michael Baron vs GM Yuri
Solodovinchenko 1/2-1/2
GM Boris Gulko vs GM
Dejan Antic. Two great GM for that weekly battle that ended
by the win of GM Boris Gulko. Congrats
to both players. And thank you to the 30+ people who watched the event
and the review!

When 2 GM
analyse their game,
it may give some headache to the audience. But that is always
instructional. They see the chessboard
and the position of the pieces differently and with a dynamic
perception which lack to most of us.
These games have
been recorded
with the player's comments and can be rebroadcasted on
demand.
You can also do /finger Banterchess
to review the games without the comments.
TGIF
This Friday
evening, (March 28), Yuri Solodovnichenko was facing IM Branimir
Maksimovic! The GM was in great shape and overplayed Branimir
who is worth more tahn the score could let think.
IM Branimir Maksimovic vs GM
Yuri Solodovnichenko. Twelve games were played and Yuri
scored
11/12.
Do you want to
see this games ? type /search
branimir Solodovnichenko and you will get the list of all
the
games played between this titled players on .
Don't miss this weekly battle! Be there next friday at 20:00
EDT!
Simul
Results
Don't
miss the registration! To make sure you'll be warned of the
beginning of the registration for the simul, just do "tell simulbot alarm".
Beware, that is a toggle command, so, if you send
the command twice, that will switch the alarm off.
IM Martha Fierro,
played her saturday night fever Simul aganst 8 players. She won 7 out
on 8 and vs Brechstange. She reviewed the game played vs Yousers!
GM Ronen Har-Zvi,
played a Simul against 6 players and won the 6!
As a coincidence
he chosed to the review a game of Yousers
who had already been chosen by Martha for her analysis.
is the only site where
Simul are followed by an analysis and comments between the simul giver
and the audience.
Thanks
to all the players, Members and Masters, and Congratulations to the
Winners.

XIX
Internet Chess Tournament "Ciudad de Dos Hermanas"
For the ninth year
running the XIX Internet Chess Tournament "Ciudad de
Dos Hermanas" (Spain) is being held on the ICC playing
zone (www.chessclub.com).
Registration for the event is completely
free both for ICC members and
non-members!
This event is
clearly the most important Internet chess tournament in
the world, featuring the biggest number of participants. In the 2007
edition, nearly 2000
players from all over the world took part. The
winner, former child prodigy and under-10 World Champion IM Jorge
Sammour-Hasbun, overcome an impressive field of 300 IM/GM’s,
including top players Shahriyar Mamedyarov, Tigran L. Petrosian, Gata
Kamsky, Hikaru Nakamura, Kiril Georgiev and Sergey Shipov.
This year the prize
fund will be 7,700 Euro (roughly $12,000), with
2,000 Euro (roughly $3,400) for the winner. In addition, there are many
class prizes and special cash prizes for amateur players. Also, winners
can achieve the opportunity to travel to Dos Hermanas for the main
Event, with Topalov, Shirov, Polgar and Vallejo, at the end of April.
As in previous
editions, the playing system is as follows: twelve
12-round Swiss qualifiers using the playing rate: 3 minutes per game.
Qualifiers are held twice a day from March 28th to April 2nd, and the
finals are held on April 4th and 5th. The 12 qualifier winners plus the
20 best scores qualify to the 32 KO final.

Predict a Move - An
Event with PRIZES !
Started
January
1st, PAM (Predict-a-Move) is rolling. Every day at
13:00 EDT, you can join the line just type "tell PAM-bot join".
The rule is simple. A game played by 2 masters is chosen in a database
and the members have to guess what is the move that has been played by
white as well as black. Any guess within the 30 first seconds gives you
25
points. The right guess gives 75 points, so, the
right guess found in less than 30 seconds means 100
points.
Of course, it is not allowed to search the game in a database in order
to guess(?) the move. We hope you understand that cheating is just
detrimental.
You can join, leave and come back without losing your points.
PRIZES
: Each month the best
player will be awarded with a 3 weeks
membership extension and the player who has played the most during
the month (with a minimun score of 3000
points for the whole month) will get 1 week

in playing in the best conditions, apply for Helper and/or for
Tournament Manager. Go in Event Tab of the Activities Window and, at
the bottom, you'll find the forms to fill. Don't forget that thing : if
you are friendly with people, people will be
friendly with you (well... almost !)
You can also click on "I want to become a Helper" or on "I want to be a Tournament Manager" |

time.
Questions and some answers:
- Games
of the day / Videos
: they are available for members only (so
join us !) with your
handle and password.
- Mac / Linux
:I adore the dasher program but I can't downloaded
with my Mac OS X 10.5.1 and sadly I only play with it in my laptop.
There is an alternative interface to Dasher for people who chosed Mac
or Linux, its called Sonia.
- Time Control
: Set up a game with time control like 40 moves in 60 minutes
+ extra time like on an OTB is possible when the game is in tourney
mode, so you may need a Admin Tournament Manager to do it.
- What time is it ?
: On
, the events refers to the Server
Time EDT (New-York time), that is GMT-4 or PST+3. To check
the Server Time (and see if your didn't forget to have lunch) you can
type /Date in main tab and see the server time.
