Titled players challenge you ! If you want to see your name in the NewsLetter, it is VERY easy : just play the Events and win! Played this week Some results of the week   Keep an on the scheduled Events, connect in time, then, jump in!  On Dasher, click in menu bar - Window - Activities then select the Events tab. That is where you find most of the info about... guess what... EVENTS ! Under (To)day Events, you find scheduled events, MasterChallenge, Simul, etc. But also the live games that are broadcasted. Under them are the "tomorrow events" as far there is no last minute change. But above the Today Events, there is a line name "scheduled events with titled players this week" and it opens a webpage.  vs is probably the toughest Time  Control for the Masters. So, in most on cases, we go for a  1 0 vs 2 1. Still one more minute for the player!     Let's see the results of the week: Thursday, March 7th | 15:00 EST IM Goran Vojinovic was on the field for a double trouble (MasterChallenge during 2 hours)! 28 wins with a time control of 1 1 vs 2 1 and only 2 losses to manfredS and Alstone52. Saturday March 9th | 15:00 EST  WGM Anna Zatonskih wand to continue te women's day and played a brilliant MasterChallenge 16 wins, 1 loss to coolbreisgames MasterChallenge with a Time Control 1 1 2 1, drawing to Lena and losing to Alpen (who already beat him the week before). Monday, March 10th | 15:00 EDT GM Daniel Fridman had recover his forces after his  win in the Deutscher MeisterSchaft. He won 17 out of 18 games, losing to DGajovic. Monday, March 10th | 15:00 EDT IM Vlado Jakovljevic  did the perfct score during his Master Challenge: 17 games, 17 wins. Wednesday, March 12th | 15:00 EDT WGM Anna Zatonskih played the MasterChallenge with time-odds. 15 wins, 1 draw to Brechtsange and 2 losses to PoisonedPawn and LuxTime.    Wednesday, March 12 | 15:00 EDT GM Yuri Solodovnichenko won 16 out of the 17 games, losing to Fired. Special Event: March 8th was Women's Day and wanted to celebrate it. So a Special BanterChess was set up between  IM Irina Krush and IM Martha Fierro at 15:00 EST.  IM Martha Fierro won this very interesting game reviewed by the 2 champions in an analysis followed by a great audience.  Thanks to all the players, Members and Masters, and Congratulations to the Winners. Rules and descriptions of all Titled Events can be found here Banter played this week:  During the 25 5 game, the two Masters whisper their thoughts and their plans. Of course, they can't read what their opponent is planning. Always interesting to try to understand how a Master thinks!  When the game finishes, the players review the game together, exploring other lines and analyzing their mistakes. FM Dr. Drasko vs IM Branimir Maksimovic 1-0 GM Boris Gulko vs GM Dejan Antic was an epic battle that ended in a draw. Congrats to both players. These games have been recorded with the player's comments and can be rebroadcasted on demand.  TGIF This Friday evening, (Feb. 22), Dragan Stamenkovic was facing FM Dragan Drasko. Once again! And it's always a great show to observe this two players. An average of 10% of all the connected members are in the audience. IM Gergely Szabo vs IM Branimir Maksimovic.Thirteen games were played and Gergely Szabo won the match 7.5 -4.5. Double Congratulations to Gergely who despite he just broke his left arm, wanted to honor his commitment on.    Don't miss this weekly battle! Be there next friday at 20:00 EST where IM Goran Vojinovic will meet IM Dragan Stamenkovic!  Simul Results  Don't miss the registration! To make sure you'll be warned of the beginning of the registration for the simul, just do "tell simulbot alarm". Beware, that is a toggle command, so, if you send the command twice, that will switch the alarm off. Thursday, March 6th | 15:00 EST   GM Larry Christiansen played a simul 30 15 against 12 players. He probably didn't notice it was not a blitz Simul! He won the 12 games and analyzed 2 games in less than 1hour, including the review of two interesting games, MrYas and IamGodsKid. Remember that  is the only site where Simul are followed by an analysis and comments between the simul giver and  the  audience. Tuesday, February 26th | 19:00 EST  GM Ronen Har-Zvi was playing the tuesday's Simul, always black pieces for him. The Simul was full and some players could not  join. He won 10 out of 12, losing to supersnort and ThePrince. For his post simul analysis, he chosed franco's game and explained how he could have drawn this game. RonenHar-Zvi(GM) : you can should and must play till the end RonenHar-Zvi(GM) : when you are the only one with chances! RonenHar-Zvi(GM)  : ok, hope this was interesting , and you can use and try this... Fight!   Piece-Odds Friday, March 7th | 15:00 EST  IM Sasha Belezky was playing his first Piece-Odds on .  16 wins an only 3 losses to Alstone52, BRock and LuxTime. Tuesday, February 19th | 15:00 EST IM Branimir Maksimovic was there for this  odd exercice.  17 games of which he won 13, drew one to jonathann and lost to Lena, arnoldmuscat and maryDawson.  Of course, only members can play, so become a member!  In Pieces odds, the master will suffer the handicap of a piece determined by your blitz rating despite the rating displayed is your wild rating. The time control is 2 0 2 0. The limits can be adjusted and are not always the same, even for the same Master. It has concluded in his original country, Spain, with the Victory of the world Champion Anand. Thanks to  we could follow that epic battle move after move, listening to the comments provided by ChessFM and the great Team of commentators directed by Mig Greengard.   When Anand was winning for the second year, we must also congratulate the young Norwegian prodigy Magnus Carlsen who fought to death in his last game against Radjabov to tie with the world Champion. After Corus, after Morelia, Magnus confirms he is a pretendant to the suprem throne in the very next years.  You can also watch the Game Of The Day (GOTD), available in Event Window. It's a not to be missed feature that no other Chess Site can provide you at such a level of quality. What about the French Riviera ? Amber Tournament is on the way Melody Amber started in 1992 as an event of rapid chess and in the next year blindfold has been added to the event. It is sponsored by a rich Dutch family and is held every March. The 17th Amber Blindfold and rapid Chess Tournament will run from March 15 to March 27, in Nice, featuring 12 of the best GM. The top 4 is there, may be even the top 5 if we anticipate the estimated 5th place in mondial ranking of Magnus Carlsen. Of course, we will follow the match in the match, I mean the duel between Anand and the Norwegian... ICC and will relay the games and the official site  will provide videos made by Macauley Peterson and Peter Doggers(Chess Vibes). The GOTD (Game of the day) will be also available.  Take a seat, join and enjoy !

Events with Prize by IM Goran Vojinovic Every Thursday at 10:00 EDT  During February and till Avril 10th 2008, IM Goran Vojinovic will offer a weekly MasterChallenge in the early afternoon, (european time). Among the players who will play him, the best winner will be awarded by a free lesson given by IM Goran Vojinovic.  The Serbian International Master is actually rated 2474 and could beat his previous peak (2482) very soon.  He belongs to those who believe in WCL and wants to help the site to develop in Europ.  The dates are not yet determined, so keep an eye on WCL events and don't give away the chance to get free lesson from a great teacher! Result of Thursday, March 13th : Goran experimented big lag issue so only 6 games were played and  won, so, this time again, the winner of the free lesson is NO_PLAYER. Better luck in two weeks! IM Goran Vojinovic has been invited to play a tourney next week and won't be available then! Rules : the games will be played in 2 0 2 0 time control. In case of several losses, the best winner will be determined this way 1st tiebreak: The player who won the most games in that MasterChallenge. 2nd tiebreak: The player with the lowest rating. Predict a Move Started  January 1st, PAM (Predict-a-Move) is rolling. Every day at 13:00 EDT, you can join the line just type "tell PAM-bot join". The rule is simple. A game played by 2 masters is chosen in a database and the members have to guess what is the move that has been played by white as well as black. Any guess within the 30 first seconds give you 25 points. The right guess gives 75 points, so, the right guess found in less than 30 seconds means 100 points. Of course, it is not allowed to search the game in a database in order to guess(?) the move. We hope you understand that cheating is just detrimental. So Join us and have fun!  In case of tiebreak, the system is very simple, it is the registration order which decides, so, be there at the very beginning!   Dasher - Hints and tips   Atomic rules  First make sure you have a version 1.2.2 or above. Click on the Help in menu bar and select About Dasher. It will display your actual version and if it does show you the 1.2.2 you have to download here. Many of you already enjoyed that warm voice who announces after an explosion, "White King has exploded". The rules of that wild now supported by Dasher are simple. When you capture a piece, your own piece explodes and disappear from the board but also all pieces in one square radius except the pawns. The goal is to explode your opponent's King. Check doesn't matter and you can find one King ofan e5 and the other on e6, for example, which is a tricky way to escape to adverse attack. Check doesn't matter means you can castle under a check but Dasher won't let you do it with the mouse. You have to type 0-0 or 0-0-0 and the castle will be played.   The board on the left shows you the consequences of the moves. If Bxg7 then white Bishop and black pawn explode, of course but also the adjacent pieces on h6, h8 and f8. Quite a devastating move but the black King is still alive. In the other case, if Qxc2 then Black Queen and White Knight are sent to chess Paradise, NOT the d2 pawn BUT the White King is exploded too and Black wins !    Now, a small hint. if you play with black and your opponent plays 1.Nf3 the only move is 1... f6 ! Any other try and you're dead in 2 moves!   We are here to help you and let you have fun playing chess !    : The Community  We need you ! As already said above, is growing ! We need Helpers, we need more Tournament managers, so if you like chess and if you enjoy to help people to play chess and give them fun in playing in the best conditions, apply for Helper and/or for Tournament Manager. Go in Event Tab of the Activities Window and, at the bottom, you'll find the forms to fill. Don't forget that thing : if you are friendly with people, people will be friendly with you (well... almost !) You can also click on "I want to become a Helper" or on "I want to be a Tournament Manager"  Feel free to share your opinion and your wishes. We want to know what kind of event you like, in tourneys, in event vs titled players. We also need to know what is the best hour for you (of course, regarding where you live in the world) and how much time you can spend on for an event. You can find the list of scheduled events, tourneys and broadcast of the coming week in the event window .   Well, we need to know who you are and where you are from in order to schedule the right events at the right time. Questions and some answers: Rating graph : What is the problem with supplying a personal progress graph for World Chess Live? I considered this an important feature of Chess live and was disappointed when it wasn't carried over when the changes were made. No worries, it will be done. Guests : You have dowloaded Dasher and you can actually plays vs the computer when you are not connected but, if you want to play on line, you must be a member. Log in as a guest just allows you to ask questions. In case of problem to validate your membership, password lost, please contact . Games of the day / Videos : they are available for members only (so join us !) with your and password handle. Mac / Linux :I adore the dasher program but I can't downloaded with my Mac OS X 10.5.1 and sadly I only play with it in my laptop. There is an alternative interface to Dasher for people who chosed Mac or Linux, its called Sonia. Time Control : Set up a game with time control like 40 moves in 60 minutes + extra time like on an OTB is possible when the game is in tourney mode, so you may need a Admin Tournament Manager to do it. What time is it ? : On , the events refers to the Server Time EST (New-York time), that is GMT-5 or PST+3. To check the Server Time (and see if your didn't forget to have lunch) you can type /Date in main tab and see the server time.  Two important addresses : If you have any suggestions, ideas or questions, feel free to contact us.
