ICC Dasher 1.3 Release Notes

Release 1.3.0 - 14 February 2009 (Changes since Release 1.2.3)

Activities window
- Activities tabs didn't use their full width [1830].
- Activity window tabs colorized and moved to top of window.
- Friends tab header wasn't displayed and updated correctly.

Channels window
- Only auto-switch tabs on channel atell if tabs visible [1840].
- Support auto-switch to tabs other than channel 1 for channel atell.
- An initial "/" is stripped from command lines except in main, and commands may be sent to the server differently from before. This is beneficial to e.g. aliases and "/finger".

Board / chat windows
- Place say (opponent tells) in board window if kibitz pane is visible.
- If a chat window is open with opponent, copy messages to that window as well as showing in board window.
- Allow any number of pieces of same type, was previously restricted to max possible in normal chess. Fixes ICC "ex Fark %40" [1836].
- Don't shut down engine with ctrl-shift-E during computer game.
- Shut down all engines when new game starts and attempt to remedy orphaned engine problem [695].
- Attempt to fix intermittent problem with clocks on the wrong side of the board [1149].
- Play sound when loss on time in a computer game.
- Recognize stalemate made by computer and stop clocks [1670].
- Fix notation bug where taking en passant escapes mate.
- Print "checkmate" and "stalemate" if made by computer.

Other windows
- Route server replies to window that issued the command. Useful for getting error message where you're typing instead of in the console. Similarly, try "/date" in board window or "/finger" in channel 250.
- Show away warning after tell and in window where tell originated.
- Black squares were not correctly updated in the Settings | Board Layout preview window if their texture was solid [1849].
- Aliases work from command line in board, chat and console channel windows.
- Dasher no longer crashes when showing PDF documents [1846].
- Display error message if engine license key was not saved successfully.
- Don't request pstat for user's own profile window. This also keeps error message from appearing in the console when viewing own profile.
- User context menu in text windows did not work correctly in translated versions [1928].
- My Channels dialog updated with new channels.

Miscellaneous
- Handle and fix corrupted games database. Exit Dasher if failing to correct it to prevent further damage. This bug locked up Dasher during startup.
- PGN files can now have unix-style line endings [1844].
- Load game: accept digits and ensure consistency in castling notation (bug 1848).
- Engine logging could cause Dasher crash if logfile failed to open.
- Possibly fixes Win 98 startup crashes [1472]. Dasher could hang or get very slow while drawing the main Dasher screen / desktop.
- Various translation bugs.
