Setting up a position

Setting up a position in Dasher is easy! First, you will need to enter examine mode.

Once in examine mode, you can click the Setup Position Icon to start setting up your position:

After pressing this button, you will see a set of black pieces (above the game board):

and white pieces (below the game board):

You can drag these pieces directly on the game board to setup your position. You can also remove pieces from the board by dragging them off the board.

You can do various other setup tasks by right-clicking in the move list area to the right of the game board to bring up a helper menu:

• White to Move White will move first in examined game. If un-checked, black will move first.
• Load FEN Load a FEN position on the game board.
• Clear Board Start setting up your position from a blank chess board.
• Reverse Board Change the players around so that the black player is now playing from the white side.
• Setup Position Toggles the setup position pieces in the game window. This is the same as clicking the Setup Position Icon located in the toolbar above the game board.
