See help timestamp for general information about timestamp.
Blitzin and several other interfaces have timestamp built in,
but if you're using an interface that doesn't, you'll probably
want to connect via the stand-alone timestamp.exe program.
The 2005-03-09 version of timestamp.exe is configured to go to
the current chessclub.com IP address, 207.99.83.228. If that IP
changes or you wish you connect to another ICC server, you can
specify the IP address to connect to on the command line, e.g.
"timestamp.exe 207.99.83.231" for queen. You may want to make
your own icon for it, if you'll be launching it manually often.
Or you can Run it from the Start menu.
Automatic launch with most interfaces
Winboard, SLICS and most other interfaces have some way to launch
timestamp automatically (if they don't have it built in!) Just
follow the directions for that interface.
Version notes
The 2005-03-09 version supports use of the full ISO 8859-1
(Western European) character set, whereas earlier versions didn't
work with accented i's (ì í î) and some other letters. (Note however
that this may make it less suitable for use with Winboard, which
interprets ASCII 255 as the telnet IAC character, rather than as
a y with diaresis.) Also, earlier versions had the potential for
a race condition that could result in getting the "It isn't your turn"
message when the client responded instantly to the opponent's move.
There was a 2005-02-10 version up for a month, but it had a bug.
You'd notice as soon as you played a game using that -- it won't
show you the opponent's move :-)
We've taken down the old 16-bit version tmstampg.exe. In the unlikely
event that you're still using Windows 3.1, we recommend the 16-bit
version of Blitzin 1.81, which has timestamp built in.
