ICC's group system is designed to foster communities within ICC.
Most groups have a chat channel, a "best list", and an operator
with the power to invite players into the group. Some groups also
hold tournaments and other events that are restricted to members
of their group, and use web pages to communicate with their members.
Some groups also have special powers, titles or other meanings to
the chess server, e.g. the GM, Vendors, Helpers, and Administrators
group.
If your organization wishes to have a group on ICC in order to
run events and effectively have a corner of ICC to serve as your
own virtual online chess club, please write to groups@chessclub.com
or contact Groups or FREEBIRD.
Note that there are chat channels for many countries, langauges,
and special interests, and that these are open to all members.
There is no need for a group just to have a chat channel.
OPERATOR REQUIREMENTS: We want to ensure all operators act with maturity
and fairness. With this in mind, to be considered for the position of
Group Operator there are several minimum requirements:
1) 18 years old
2) 1 year of experience on ICC
3) 1000+ accumulated hours
4) No serious negative admin comments for a year
But also you must have a plan for what you intend to do with the group,
what activities you'll organize, etc.
